The city of Bradford woke to the news this morning that Bradford City manager Luke Higgins had called time on his stint at the Bantams after just 21 games.
Much was speculated of the on-going turmoil behind the scenes, and events reached boiling point post-match last-night, as Higgins lambasted individuals in his Press Conference, and demanded a crisis meeting with the Bradford City board immediately after the match.
Higgins's Bantams were booed off the field after a late Anthony Elding strike saw Stockport County steal the spoils, and Higgins pin-pointed the blame largely in the direction of defenders Luke Oliver and Simon Ramsden.
" They were like the f*cking Chuckle Brothers out there today, " to me, to you " passing the ball to each other across the back-line without the slightest idea of what to do with it. These two are technically the worst footballers I have ever coached in my entire life, I honestly wonder how they are even at a professional level. I hear the local Dog & Duck are offering trials, maybe they should go along, that's about their level. "
Higgins's frustrations then turned on the board and Chairman Mark Lawn.
" Mark Lawn's financial backing never justifys his expectations. I'm not asking for him to draw his childrens inheritance out of the Bradford & Bingley and allow me to sign Lionel Messi, I just wanted an extra 400 quid a week so we could secure the signing of Darren Carter. Does Mark Lawn honestly believe Darren Carter is going to want to come here for 130 quid a week? That sorry sum wont even pay for his required councilling after he's played a game alongside Tommy Doherty! The clubs accounts read 878K in profit, yet my Season budget has never altered from £0 despite numerous requests. I have played the vast majority of this season with out being able to take a full 18 man squad. Under 18's players have been making up the subsitutes bench. Scott Dobie has started 14 games for me this season, 14 games, 1 goal. In all honesty I would've been better off re-signing Dean Windass and sending Dobie back to St Johnstone. "
Higgins's tirade reached it's conclusion as he expressed his disgust at the lack of supporting from the Bradford supporters.
" They turn up week in week out with the delusional mindset that we are still a big club. The days of Benito Carbone and Premier League football are a faded memory, they need a reality check, we aren't a big fish in a small pond even at League Two level, we are the crippled tadpole waiting to sink to it's extinction. If only they knew half of it, they hurl abuse at me from the stands every week for picking Shane Duff, what they don't realise is that either Shane Duff plays, or my 41-year assistant manager Wayne Jacobs gets a run out, and he's got arthritis in both knees. "
Higgins is now on the search for a new challenge in English Football, and wishes Bradford City and Mark Lawn rapid implosion and many more years of Simon Ramsden's positional play.
